Is there a good excuse? I got a few.
If there is a good excuse for going MIA on my blog I think I have a few good ones.
First up…Honeymoon in Hawaii. As we ran from tree cover to tree cover in Kauai to miss the monsoon season…now all my friends say, “Oh yeah. Didn’t you know its the rainy season there?” Uh…NO! The rains came down and the floods went up (I knew that song from my bible class in 1st grade would come in handy someday.) What do you do when your expectations of what you thought was going to happen are swallowed up in disappointment? I fought with my emotions the whole time there. I brought SPF 45 for gosh sakes and we never even cracked it open. Just rain, rain, and more rain – for 7 days. Sigh…But just like life, within the puddles are surprises waiting for you. But if you keep looking down you might miss the surprises overhead.

The rainbow was humbling, to say the least. Eloise…just shut up and look up!
Next excuse – The Flu. In case you don’t know or haven’t heard…It’s not much fun. I’d rather walk in the rain. But the body is an amazing thing…recovered and ready to roll.
Last excuse – Turkey. I had the honor and privilege of hosting all my kids and step kids for Thanksgiving. Jonathan wrestled his new grill by waking up at 6am to hoist it onto the “rotisserie spit” only to watch this 20 pound beauty flop off the stand and put our dinner in jeopardy. By the time I awoke and came downstairs, the look of terror in his eyes, he proceeded to tie that dang bird to the grill and “will” it to get cooked. And cooked it got. Because it has two burners in this new fangled BBQ, it cooked that bird in half the time. The turkey was ready by 9:30am! Whaaaat? Oh well. I love his adventurous cooking spirit.
So that catches you up on my delays in blogging. Coming up are my thoughts as we face a new year upon us. I will be blogging my top five Christmas resolutions for 2009. Get ready – I promise they will be doo-zies!
And remember to look up – there are rainbows to be discovered!
Love from sunny, dry Texas
